Founder and CEO Joel Slenning, along with Managing Partners Deb Hays and Ashley Simpson, started ICON Staffing Network six years ago in Slenning’s basement. Today, ICON employs thirty people and occupies the fourth floor of a Portland-suburb office building. (We’re literally moving up in the staffing solutions world.)
ICON was recently honored with being awarded as the No. 1 Best Company to Work for in Oregon in the small companies category. An award based on an employee satisfaction survey— distributed by the Oregon Business Journal— that considers work environment, management and communications, decision-making and trust, career development and learning, benefits and compensations, and sustainability practices in their determining the company rankings.
“When your team is inspired by what you do and can get behind your vision, you start to see massive changes in your company’s success,” said Slenning in a released statement. “We started ICON to create something truly different in the staffing industry and with the right people; we are continuing to accomplish positive change year after year.”
The goal is to create an environment that inspires employees to be better versions of themselves. Our company values are proudly displayed and practiced throughout our space. In addition, our company culture includes some unique employee perks including, early-release Fridays, catered lunches every other week, season tickets to Portland Trail Blazer and Oregon Ducks Football games, arcade games and a ping-pong table in the office and a kitchen stocked with healthy snacks, beverages, and beer and hard cider on tap.
While our humble floor may not exactly look like LinkedIn’s new office building, we’d like to think our company culture can hang with the big boys.
And so can these business partners of ours. We work with only the best. These IT companies have crafted their own unique perks and company culture. Watch these videos and learn a little bit more about them:
