Advances in healthcare technology, an aging population and the Affordable Care Act have created a growing need for more healthcare professionals across all sectors of the industry, according to LinkedIn data. Nearly half of the 30 fastest growing professions in the U.S. are related to healthcare according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.


The professional social media firm analyzed healthcare jobs with high median salaries, healthy job openings and year-over-year growth and the jobs most likely to lead to a promotion or advancement. Surprisingly, not all positions require a medical degree or decades of experience.


The 10 listed jobs had median salaries ranging from $61,600 (such as financial analyst, a position that scored high for career advancement) to $220,000 (hospitalist). Pharmacy Manager topped the list.
